I must admit I'm not so far what styling goes but I always read on forums about JDM and USDM style. Now my question is not what the difference is but is there really such a big difference between JDM and USDM style of cars? When I watch for example turboz32 Nissan and compare it with other 300zx on the web I can see really only a slight difference. Maybe the original JDM parts are difficult to get but the US guys should have it easier to get japanese parts is that right? How does a stock 300zx (JDM) look compared to a 300Zx (USDM)???
Maybe turboz32 can help here.
merry christmass to all of you guys

as far as the Z32 goes, the major differences occured in production after 1996 (when Nissan USA stopped producing the 300zx) Nissan Japan however continued to produce the Z32 until 1999.  As for the difference between th USDM an JDM Zs from 1990 through 1996 the LHD/RHD is the main difference.  however post US production the Z aquired aset of power folding mirrors, a new redesigned front bumper, a set of new cleared taillights, and a more aggresive suspension.  The Z is not a great example of the USDM/JDM divide... Honda however is a great example...

take the DC5 integra, here in the US it is renamed the Acura RSX and comes (as all cars here do) Left Hand Drive. that, although only badging is a pure example of how different the US market is, I.E. the 350GT is badged as an Infiniti G35 here, the toyota aristo and celsior are badged as Lexus GS300 and LS460 here (it may be the same in other parts of the world as well)  The main focus here (for the time being) in customizing automobiles is the "JDM" theme... coming from the "wangan" style of japanese tuning, the cars are clean and subtle, sleek and aerodynamic using mainly parts from japan (the rare-er the better stricly for bragging rights) to give a nice aggresive yet laid back appearance.
and to answer your question about the ease of getting japanese parts... no, it is not easy at all.  it takes about 2-3 months to get here from japan

Turboz32 , your right here in the phil. a lot of JDM parts as a surplus came from japan HONDA, NISSAN , so people here have a lot to choose  to cystomized there ride and cheaper price. And a lot of surplus  nissan skyline RHD R34  and converted to LHD use mostly for drifting and drag racing.

Ok guys but if I look at the cool US conversions the guys at the USA are doing I ask myself why should they go for JDM since USDM look also great. We could name turboz32 example with the 300zx TT which is a hell of a ride but only the nismo badge on the front doesn't make it JDM and the ride has more a touch of being build at the USA. other examples? I only need to take a look on www.importtuner.com where there are a lot of hondas, nissan and toyotas looking really great but are build with a touch of USA. There are great tuners in the USA for japanese cars so I wouldn't really try to get JDM-only parts.

I don't care much about JDM USDM or anything else. If you mod your ride and you like it than it's great. my teg is anything but JDM and that's why people on superstreet or importtuner doesn't rate it that high but I simply didn't want to do something all the others do so I'm really happy with my car. I'm every time impressed how much creativity and work US guys put in their rides. To me the best (japan) tuners are the US guys since they do their thing how they like and that's important.

Yes, I agree build the car the way you like it ,thats what make us different, but at the same time brings us all together and brings us more ideas.

Yep thats mot important. As long as you like your car its fine. I still am impressed everytime I watch the cars on superstreet online. I'm so happy sleeper92, turboz32, turbozillar32 posted their cars (let's say here USDM style) here on this site. They are definitely an enhancement to this site. Most important is they way their rides look. Maybe the 300zx and the skyline are not best examples here since they are way too rare especially here in Germany not to talk about greece. but let's take the 240SX and the Prelude. I know at least 3 guys owning a Prelude in the town I come from. They all focused on body kits. And we are talking about wide body kits. Same is for Greece. I saw about 10 different Preludes and they are all with wide body kits. Now comparing with sleeper92 lude the main difference is that he leans more on JDM or USDM trying to keep the look simple, clean but still functional and well balanced (yes I think optics and visuals also can be balanced well ;)) proving this with the white color and carbon hood. This is a classic but still great look. Now who would expect this lude has 370+ HP? No one.
Let's take the 350Z from dsgn. He could have taken a VeilSide wide body kit conversion or sth similar but decided to take a custom hood (which definitely fits perfectly with the rest) and Stillen front bumber which has a classic look.

Same for the 240SX and for the 300ZX. If you compare the rides they are more JDM/USDM then any german civic or RX-8 will be.
